Integration reliability

A proposed discovery model for mapping a business event across systems before changing an integration.

Origin: Personal architecture exploration based on general API and operations patterns; no client integration or delivery is represented.

Abstract system map with connected components

Problem / Context

Orders appear to synchronize inconsistently, while ownership and retry behavior are unclear.

Constraints

  • No client data
  • Multiple system owners
  • Contract and retry behavior may be unknown

Options considered

  • Change retry settings first
  • Inspect only HTTP responses
  • Map the business event across system boundaries

Recommendation

Produce a shared flow map with contracts, failure states, and a testable exception path.

Proposed implementation

Identify the source of truth, transformation points, idempotency behavior, and owner for each normal and exception state.

Validation / Evidence

This is a conceptual discovery model; no production integration has been inspected or validated.

Production considerations

  • Avoid duplicate processing
  • Make exception ownership explicit
  • Retain correlation identifiers

This Architecture Exploration is general technical guidance, not a client case study.
